Night Market to Open in Ann Arbor

One of America’s oldest and best markets – the Ann Arbor Farmers Market (started in 1919) – announced that it will open a night market in June of 2011.
This is the brainchild of market manager Molly Notarianni – who recently moved back from Portland (OR) where she managed their incredible farmers markets.
Last week I escorted a market training class to the Ann Arbor Farmers Market and we were greeted amiably by Molly who gave us an overview of day to day operations and then discussed her plans for the night market.
Interestingly, some of the attendees are also planning night markets in their towns – so perhaps we will be seeing more of these in the future.
The Ann Arbor Market is owned by the city and anchors a vibrant commercial district patronized by students and residents.

Cheers to Molly and her market compatriots for taking on the night!

Viva the market!
